A quick sketch of one of the key mindsets I’m trying to teach my students — and what design can offer to law.
How do we think about problems in fresh ways, user-centered ways? How do we listen & research to get to root problems, rather than superficial ones? That’s what the design process encourages us to do.
It could be about how we listen to our clients when they come to us with one problem — and we might be able to recognize other things going on underneath the surface and reframe it in ways that help their longer-term objectives.
It could be about how we create new services, or better improved services, for lay people who are seeking out legal resources for their life problem.
